Grand Opening August 28th, 2008

On August 28th, HKPH offered poker amateurs and aficionados a chance to hold ‘em or fold ‘em for a good cause. As a way of celebrating its Grand Opening on August 28th, HKPH hosted a charity poker event to benefit the Sichuan earthquake relief effort by raising over $10,000 for the Red Cross . The Poker Event was filled with famous celebrities, poker pros, including World Series of Poker main event champion and part owner of the Hong Kong Poker House, Joe Hachem, and poker players alike in hopes of reinforcing a sense of community amongst members and supporters. In addition to the support provided by Mr. Hachem, PokerStars also lent their support through the presence of Asia Pacific Poker Tour president, Jeffrey Haas. Also present were Australian poker pro Lee Nelson, Danish poker pro Henrik Gwinner, and Taiwanese born American female poker pro JJ Liu lending worldwide attention to a worthwhile cause of the Sichuan Earthquake. The poker media was also in attendance with PokerNews reporter Melissa Castello and poker blogger Gary Wise. The grand opening party was a complete success with 100% of the tournament proceeds going to the Red Cross.
