in 1972 and
now resides
in San Francisco
and Los Angeles,
California.
One of the
most recognizable
people in
the poker
world, Laak,
wearing his
trademark
sweatshirt
and sunglasses,
quickly became
known as the
'Unabomber.'
Phil started
playing in
1999 but before
2003 he’d
only entered
eight tournaments,
including
three consecutive
Main Events
at the World
Series of
Poker. His
appearances
on the World
Poker Tour
have made
him one of
the most popular
players on
the circuit
and have also
helped him
land many
television
gigs. At one
time, he was
the host of
E!
Hollywood
Hold’em
and he also
appeared on
GSN's
Poker Royale,
High
Stakes Poker
and NBC's
Poker After
Dark.
Although mostly a cash-game player, he does also have major tournament experience, notably a win at the 2004World Poker Tour Invitational. He finished second in the 2005 $2,500 pot-limit hold’em World Series of Poker event. In 2006, he finished fifth in the Seneca World Poker Classic. Currently, Laak co-hosts a show called "I Bet on You" with his friend Antonio Esfandiari where they can be found betting on any and all things.
Joseph Hachem was born in Lebanon in 1966. He moved to Melbourne, Australia in the early 1970s where he worked as a mortgage broker and later on as a chiropractor. Joe is married and now a father of four children. Only starting to play poker at a serious level in 2003, he became a well-known character at the tables in Australia.
In 2005 Hachem defeated 5618 players to win the Main Event at the renowned World Series of Poker. His victory earned him a record-breaking $7.5 million dollars and forever cast him into the poker limelight. Today, Hachem still plays poker at a very high level. Despite winning the largest poker tournament in the world, Hachem invests a lot of time in online poker room tournaments. He currently endorses Poker Stars, having done so even before winning the 2005 WSOP. With over 100,000 raked hands, it’s not unlikely to find him at some of the high stake tables.
Kelly "All In"Flynn was born in Denver, Colorado and currently lives in Las Vegas and Hong Kong. A recognized veteran in the gaming industry, Flynn has spent years producing all kind of events, including poker tournaments and charity events. He is partner and founder of “The Division”, a recognized poker marketing and promotion agency based in Colorado.
Flynn participated as Executive Producer of “Inside Poker,” a nationally broadcast cable series aired on Fox, reaching over 80 million homes. Kelly has undertaken countless projects for some of the biggest online poker rooms in the market, from developing VIP Gifting Programs through his poker supplies manufacturing company “Black Chip” to consulting on marketing projects.
As one of the pioneers of poker in Asia, Kelly has taken the time to study the market and build a poker network including the “Hong Kong Poker League” and “Chinese Poker Players Association,” among others. It wouldn’t be surprising to see Kelly, recognized by his aggressive style at the tables, playing at some of the major Asian tournaments such as the APPT or APT, or at games in Macau, where he bought into the city’s first-ever legal cash game and took down the first pot.
Born in California and raised in Hong Kong, Brendan Kam is on his way to becoming the ambassador of poker in Hong Kong. As the tournament director and organizer of the biggest poker league in the city the “HKPL” and the General Manager for “HKPH”, his only objective is to build up the Hong Kong poker community and bring poker up to the level of popularity it is at in the States.
Brendan attended local Chinese high schools and went on to study math and econ at M.I.T. and Columbia, taking two years off in between to follow his favorite band “Phish” on tour. He lived in Newport Beach for three years after getting his degree in Applied Mathematics to start up a company with his younger brother that manufactures and distributes barbeque sauce. He spent most of his time in California at the 8/16 limit tables in Commerce and Hawaiian Gardens and eventually turned on to No-limit Hold’em which is currently the most popular form of poker in Hong Kong.
